Pop superstar Rihanna has reached the peak of Billboard Hot 100 significantly at the end of her headline-grabbing “777 Tour” where she toured, via a Boeing 777 plane, to seven cities in seven days highlighted by a concert in each stop — all for the purpose of promoting her 7th album “Unapologetic.”
The positive result of the tour, wherein she brought more than 150 journalists with her to cover the week-long extravaganza, is best reflected on the album’s lead single “Diamonds” becoming her fastest-rising single ever en route to achieving her record-breaking 12th Hot 100 No.1.
Steve Bartels, President and COO of Island Def Jam, was part of that global blitz and came to realize the level of professionalism and artistry Rihanna imbibes.
“I can tell you from firsthand experience that no one works harder, and has more fun doing it, than Rihanna,” he assessed.
The tour started November 14 as she and her large entourage of fans and international media invitees (representing 82 countries) went around North America and Europe and did the glitter-filled routine of music and mayhem for seven straight days. The show ended climactically in New York.
“Rihanna is a multi-dimensional musical force who continues to prove she is one of the greats,” Bartels noted. “To constantly dominate the charts and set new records year after year is an astonishing feat achieved by only the best.”
