BUHARI DIRECTS THAT PASSPORTS BE VALID FOR 10 YEARS

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that the validity of passports issued in the country, should be increased from five to 10 year.
The Comptroller-General of Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammed Babandede, revealed this on Thursday, when he visited the Ikoyi passport office in Lagos. He said the president also improved security features and quality for the passport booklets.
In his words:
“He (Buhari) has approved 10-year validity for passports which is great news. When the report comes, passports will be valid for 10 years which is great news especially for adults from the age of 18 and above.
“Though people will pay more, if they can pay more and get the booklets quickly, it’s good with improved security for 10 years validity. They would pay more but the document would be available, that’s good.
“Ten years after the enrolment of the e-passport system, we need to improve the security features. You can’t keep documents for 10 years without seeing decreased values in them, so we are improving the security features which would raise the standards of the passports.”
Babandede added that the new changes, will ease the stress of renewing passports and also help the country. He also ensured that it will be done before the end of the year because the booklet has to change.

Obasanjo Finally Reveals Who He Will Support To Lead Nigeria In 2019

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, who has publicly been against the Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration, has mentioned that he will only give his supports to any Nigerian who will turn the country’s fortune around for good.
According to reports from Punch, he said this on Thursday while receiving a former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta. Turaki, who is a presidential aspirant, came with a 10-man delegation that included a former governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna. Obasanjo reiterated that he would not rest until the fortunes of Nigeria are “turned around for good.”
He identified the dearth of “qualitative leadership” as one of the major challenges confronting Nigeria, adding that men of goodwill must not keep quiet in the face of misrule. He then called for concerted efforts from the political class towards providing the country with better leadership.
He said:
“Let me say that what is happening here today or what you’re making to happen with your delegation particularly gladdens my heart. You are firming up and stabilising our democracy. Democracy is not a destination but a journey and there is no nation that can claim to have reached the final destination. It is good for us as a nation and our democracy. We have said a lot of things that we have identified about what we need to put right as a country. What do we lack? Why are we not where we should be? We are so divided today the way we have not been before. People are deprived socially and economically. But you know, I have never lost hope.
He said the indivisibility of the country remained non-negotiable. He also accused the All Progressives Congress-led administration of “incompetence” due to its “inability to resolve some of Nigeria’s many challenges.”
While speaking with journalists after the meeting, Turaki said he came to pay respect to the former president and also to intimate him with his presidential ambition in 2019.
He said:
“The meeting has been a very fruitful one. We have discussed openly, honestly and frankly about the current situation in this country and like always, Baba was of tremendous guidance to us. Baba has spoken in his vintage way of speaking passionately about the situation in Nigeria. We believe that our indivisibility as one and united nation is given and it is non-negotiable. We feel that our unity is also non-negotiable.”

Simi comes to the defense of her boo, Adekunle Gold after a fan undermined his songs

Nigerian songstress, Simi couldn’t stand it one bit when a fellow lady tongue-lashed Adekunle Gold, saying all his songs sound the same to her. An irritated Simi didn’t wait one moment before putting that fan in her place!!!
It all started when the fan, for no reason, took to Twitter to undermine Adekunle Gold’s creative abilities by saying that the singer dishes out the same songs in different packages. According to the fan, all of Adekunle Gold’s songs sound the same to her. Though she indicated that her statement wasn’t a “hate speech,” Simi couldn’t just take it.
The fan had tweeted saying; “No shade but Adekunle Gold's songs all sound the same to me. Same style and vibe, whenever he drops a new song I always feel like I've heard it before.” Adekunle Gold ignored, but Simi just couldn’t.
So she replied saying; “People like you listen to 2 songs from an artist and come online and become a music pundit. Ire, Pick Up, Call All Me, Damn Delilah, all sound the same to you? Eku observation.” Instead of focusing on the point Simi was trying to make, fans seemed more concerned about her display of affection towards Adekunle Gold.
